Taos PASEO
Once a year for two nights in early autumn the streets of downtown Taos are filled with incredible art and performance during the PASEO festival.
Zozobra
New Mexicans gather to burn 50-foot tall ‘Old Man Gloom’ and destroy the troubles and worries of the previous year. After nightfall Zozobra’s enemy the red-dressed Fire Spirit Dancer performs an elaborate torch ritual stoking the bogeyman into loudly moaning and flailing about until he bursts with fireworks and ablaze falls to the ground in flames.
