Taos PASEO
Once a year for two nights in early autumn the streets of downtown Taos are filled with incredible art and performance during the PASEO festival.
Zozobra
New Mexicans gather to burn 50-foot tall ‘Old Man Gloom’ and destroy the troubles and worries of the previous year. After nightfall Zozobra’s enemy the red-dressed Fire Spirit Dancer performs an elaborate torch ritual stoking the bogeyman into loudly moaning and flailing about until he bursts with fireworks and ablaze falls to the ground in flames.
Cowin’ around Sundown
I pulled over one evening while driving somewhere outside of Albuquerque to watch the sunset and ended up hanging out with these cows for a nice sundown.
Taos Tree
This old tree greets you from the side of the road as you enter the Taos Valley from the south and make a final turn towards Town, driving north on Highway 68, near the Overlook.
